South America- Day 19- Santiago-"The only two people in Santiago"

Sadly, the time came to leave the beautiful Park Hyatt. Of course the day we were leaving the weather cleared dramatically and there was no longer snow in the forecast and you could actually see the mountains we were so close to yesterday-- oh well! The hop from Mendoza to Santiago is very quick, despite changing countries and flying over the Andes. It's only an hour flight and you actually land at the same time you take off because of the hour time change. The flight is known for potentially being bumpy given the mountains, but it wasn't terrible and we made it through, even enjoying and snapping pics of the jaw-dropping mountains we were barely flying over.

We arrived in Santiago to more gray and cold weather, but we could see the outlines of the mountains that basically ring the city since it is in a valley. Headed over to the Intercontinental to get settled and then went in search of lunch nearby. While the hotel is kind of in the business district, there is a street with several restaurant options, where we ended up doing both lunch and dinner. Total ghost town on a weekend, particularly since it is still winter break down here, and our hotel is empty as well.

We walked around our immediate neighborhood a bit and then walked over to a ritzy part of town filled with art galleries, home furnishing stores, and major luxury like hermes and armani. All of which were closed. Low key afternoon as we were dragging a little and it was really cold, but we finished off the day with a fun and casual dinner at a place called Tiramisu. It was packed at lunch when we happened upon it and equally packed at dinner, a fun find!
